Don Sottile in Penn Yan, New York, studied art at State University College at Buffalo, New York, the University de Siena, and Scuola del'Arte in Italy, majoring in painting and sculpture.
Background
Don's career has been varied, including teaching, designing and building custom furniture for homes and businesses. He has worked as a designer, builder, sculptor, and painter, as well as director for the renowned art furniture maker Wendell Castle for 23 years.
About 10 years ago, Don decided to return to his first love, fine art sculpture. He built his own studio and has since produced many commissioned works and a body of very personal work for several shows, winning numerous awards, as well as acclaim in art circles and the press.
He now lives in the Heart of the Finger Lakes in New York's glorious wine country. Don works in his studio every day.
